Cross Country Meet Information

Date / Location: September 27, 2008 / Missouri State University Cross Country Facility (Corner of Hwy 65 and Division St.)

The Meet: This invitational has been named the "Richard Clark Invitational" in honor of retired Missouri State coach Richard Clark.  During Coach Clark’s 20 years at Missouri State he made a major impact on the lives of collegiate and high school runners in southwest Missouri. Please help us honor his work with your participation in this event.  This meet has merged with the Springfield Invitational.

Facilities:  The Missouri State cross country facility meets all NCAA Division-I national championship requirements. The facility will be the host for the 2008 Missouri Valley Conference Championship and the 2009 NCAA Midwest Region Championship.  This facility has also bid to host the NCAA National Championships in 2010. The start line can accommodate five runners on the front line for up to 40 teams, has a 610-meter straight before the first turn, is 100% rolled grass, is at least 15-meters wide throughout and provides a reasonable challenge. Schedule:
  • 9:30am: Girls Varsity 5K
  • 10:10am: Boys Varsity 5K
  • 10:50am: Girls Junior Varsity 5K
  • 11:30am: Boys Junior Varsity 5K
  • 12:15pm: Awards Ceremony
  • Awards:  Awards will be presented to boys and girls as follows:
  • Top 3 Varsity Large School Teams (3A/4A)
  • Top 3 Varsity Small School Teams (1A/2A)
  • Top Junior Varsity Large School Team (3A/4A).
  • Top Junior Varsity Small School Team (1A/2A).
  • Top 30 Varsity Race Finishers Overall.
  • Top 15 Junior Varsity Race Finishers Overall.
  • FEES:  Entry fees are $50 per gender for a team of up to 7 entrants. Fees for each additional entrant will be $3 per. There is no limit to the number of runners that may compete for each team. Entry fees will be based on the total number of athletes entered, not the total number that compete.  We are asking for entry fees to be paid by race day.  PO'S WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED as payment.  Teams unable to pay by meet day will be required to sign an agreement agreeing that fees will be mailed and received at MSU within 30 days of the meet or a $25 late fee will be charged.  Entry fee checks should be made payable to MSU Track and field.  Please deliver fees on meet day or mail fees prior to:

    Timing / Results:  Professionally operated transponder (Chip) timing with FinishLynx Backup.

    Entries:  The meet is open to the first 30 teams to enter their team entry forms for each gender. Additional teams will be placed on a waiting list if needed. Teams must compete with at least seven runners in the varsity race to be eligible to compete in the junior varsity race. There are no entry limits on the number of runners that may compete for each team in each race. Teams will not have to declare who their varsity and junior varsity runners are until they arrive at the starting line. Should team entries exceed course capacity in the varsity race meet management will notify entered schools of any new entry limits. This meet is open to all MSHSAA schools.  Out of state teams are welcome and should contact the meet director for entry and eligibility information in advance.
