As Missouri’s third
largest city, Springfield, and its Ozark
Mountain surroundings, offer all of the
conveniences of city life with the laid back
comforts of the outdoors just minutes away. The
Ozark region is known across the country for its
unique balance of culture and outdoor
recreation. Recently Sports Illustrated named
Springfield the top sports town in Missouri over
such cities are St. Louis and Kansas City.
Springfield,
which has been ranked as one of America’s top
ten cities to live and work in, is located in
the southwest part of Missouri. Just an easy
drive from Kansas City and St. Louis,
Springfield is centrally located. The city is
within a 500-mile radius of nearly 50-percent of
the U.S. population.
In addition to
countless
entertainment
options on campus,
including cultural
and education events
to NCAA Division I
athletics,
Springfield supports
a symphony, ballet,
art museum, civic
theater an opera and
even professional
athletics. The
Juanita K. Hammons
Hall for Performing
Arts brings
Broadway plays and
internationally
known entertainers
to campus. Less than
a mile from campus,
downtown is the
scene for live music
and art. On
the first Friday of
every month take a
stroll through
downtown Springfield
for Art Walk to
enjoy fine art,
music and good food.
